Jay Graydon Videography
In this section we will present Jay's participation in music videos in different existing formats, such as VHS, DVD and laserdisc and whatever future formats that may surface as time passes. Most of the items in this section are concert videos with different artists performing Jay's songs live (or semi-live), but there are also videos which feature certain artists' career(s) and in those cases the song(s) may be presented in the original sound recording version as background music to stills or moving sequences in environments which are off-concert limits.

VHS
(The Video Home System - magnetic videotapes)Still going strong but on the way out on account of the superior DVD technology. VHS tapes have approximately 3 MHz of bandwidth, and a horizontal resolution of about 240 lines per picture height (about 320 lines in total). The vertical resolution of VHS (and all analog video systems) is determined by the TV standard - about 480 lines are visible in NTSC (US) and about 576 lines in PAL (Europe).
LASERDISC
As a technology, laserdisc is almost as old as VHS. Laserdisc provides outstanding sound, and it produces a picture that is roughly 60 percent sharper than VHS. But the price of laserdiscs was always higher than that of VHS tapes, and the price of laserdisc players was always higher than that of VCRs. Also, a laserdisc was not capable of containing a complete movie on one side of the disc, so it was necessary to wait in the middle of a film for the disc to be flipped over.
DVD
Short for digital versatile disc or digital video disc - a type of optical disk technology similar to the CD-ROM. A DVD holds a minimum of 4.7GB of data, enough for a full-length movie. DVDs are commonly used as a medium for digital representation of movies and other multimedia presentations that combine sound with graphics.
Widescreen
provides a special "anamorphic video" signal that, when processed by a widescreen television set, fills the entire screen and delivers optimum picture quality.
Pan and Scan
a version that fills the screen of traditional 4:3 television sets with an entire picture, much like watching network movies.
Letterbox mode
provides horizontal bands at the top and bottom to, in essence, create a widescreen picture in a traditional television set.
Each of the 3 DVD display modes, if provided by the video producer, may be selected for viewing if the viewing device (player or DVD-ROM playback sub-system) is so equipped.
